MUST DO: this weekend

A new two-week exhibition influenced by life in E11, and a vintage fair for a bargain or two

ART: a new show at Stone Space

EPSON scanner image Reminisce is a collection of paintings in tea, ink and graphite by Carne Griffiths, alongside a series of limited edition prints. The works explore “human, geometric and floral forms”, in response to situations encountered in daily life. They were created in both Leytonstone and Leyton over a period of four years and, says Griffiths, “owe a great deal to the energy and creativity found in abundance in E11, its people and its fusion of urban and rural elements, constantly inspiring and influencing the direction of the work.” Reminisce opens today, March 12, and runs until March 29. Open Thursdays and Fridays between 2-6pm, on Saturdays 12-5pm and Sundays 12-4pm. Stone Space, Church Lane E11 1HG, next to Leytonstone Library.

VINTAGE FAIR: and just a quid entry

After seeing the new show at Stone Space, why not head straight to Lister Hall? Stalls will, after all, be loaded with everything you could possibly need in the vintage, retro, curios, kitch and craft departments. Expect plenty of pre-1980s items and ‘pre-loved’ fashion for both sexes. Plus refreshments, music and a café corner. There’s even a tea-time entertainment, with a salsa performance and demonstration. Saturday March 14, 11-5pm, £1 entry (kids free with an adult). Lister Hall, next to Leytonstone Methodist Church, High Road Leytonstone E11 3DA

Have you got an event coming up in E11, E10, E17, E7 or E15 (or anywhere in the surrounds, for that matter? We’d love to hear about it for our Must Do section. Email info@leytonstoner.london
