Our social feeds have been buzzing with an exciting pivot on the Yardarm restaurant front.

Lawrence Mash and Clare Geraghty of Kettle & Ryan, formerly Mash Food, are teaming up with Dan and Eliza of Yardarm to open a collaborative restaurant, Kettle & Ryan at Yardarm, on Francis Road. The bistro is scheduled to open in September next door to the cafe – and we can’t wait.

Lawrence set up Mash Food back in 2013 catering for photoshoots and small private events and was later joined by Clare, a fashion designer turned cook with a passion for seasonal and sustainable food.

They recently relaunched as Kettle and Ryan and lucky Leytonstoners who snagged a ticket to their sold out pop-ups at Host Leyton and Yardarm have already had a preview of their food the other weekend.

For those of us who didn’t, the kind of offer we can expect at the new restaurant may include things like wild salmon cured in Victory gin and foraged elderflower, or a duo of Suffolk wood pigeon or peas, broad beans and pearl barley, followed by local brewery Signature’s Nightliner coffee porter ice cream and a local cheese board.

Yum. And if you’re curious, this Saturday (1st July) they’re serving a pop-up brunch menu in Yardarm’s back garden, rain or shine. Don’t all rush there at once, mind.

Yardarm is at 238 Francis Road E10. Keep up to date with all the Kettle & Ryan news at Yardarm here
