MUST DO: Pitch, Stratford

The E15 outdoor street feast returns with a busy schedule of arty events too

Now that the surreal extreme cold spell is over, spring-like things are blossoming in our inbox.

And a choice one is the return of the alfresco hotspot, Pitch, off Stratford High Street, which opens again at the end of the month, mixing streetfood scene and events in a “design-led” outdoor area.

Open from Easter weekend right through to Autumn, the food stalls include: Ticos, serving up gourmet hot dogs and slow-cooked beef ribs, Gyoza Guys flavour-packed dumplings, and our fave modern Greek specialists Kalimera with their souvlaki.

Vegan and vegetarian options are also available, alongside homemade churros and crepes from the Pitch Sweet Shack. And to match, draft beers from Camden Town Brewery are complemented by the usual range of cider, wine, cocktails, premium spirits and mixers.

The events schedule is pretty chocka, too. Fridays combine what they call “daytime networking” with after-work drinks deals, while Saturdays come in three parts: family-friendly street food lunches, followed a good few hours of lazy afternoon-slash-early evenings of eating and drinking, ahead of a themed party night or outdoor film screening. Sundays are for brunching, with flowing prosecco and DJs doing a bit of Ibiza in E15.

As the summer months role in – woop woop! – Pitch is set to utilise its outdoor screen creating a highly affordable East London outdoor cinema. One of the only ones in the area, the schedule of films is set to be announced shortly.

How’s that for a…

Pitch opens on 29th March at 2 Bridge Terrace, Stratford, London, E15 3FF. Open Fridays-Sundays (12-11pm, Fridays from 4pm), and then on Thursdays from May. More info here
