Leyton Star: festive menus, karaoke and Gold Room packages

Christmas singalongs in the upstairs room? The lowdown on booking your seasonal gathering in E10's best boozer

When the new kitchen at the Leyton Star opened this summer, we reported on how delicious the burgers were, largely down to the fact that Cheeky Burgers is the project of a classically-trained French chef who’s appeared on Master Chef: The Professionals.

And now, like E11 sister pub Heathcote & Star, Cheeky head chef Sebastien and his team have just launched their mouth-watering festive menus in time for you to book a Christmas meal or party with family, friends or work colleagues.

Pick from two or three courses (£25 or £30 respectively) with starters such as smoked salmon with crème fraiche and gremolata, a choice of terrines, roasted pumpkin soup with pumpkin seeds or Merlot poached pears with Cropwell Bishop salad.

As for mains? Well, there’s a vegan nut roast with a rich mushroom sauce and tenderstem broccoli; rare Scottish ribeye with beef dripping potatoes, confit beef fat carrots and pan-fried sprouts with onions and lardons; or, of course, turkey crown with pigs in blankets, homemade sausage meat stuffing and all the works.

If you’re still standing, desserts include vegan frangipane with vanilla ice cream, mince pies with brandy butter, cheesecake and bread & butter pudding with vanilla custard.

That’s not all. For bigger groups, did you know that above the main area of The Leyton Star is The Gold Room (see our main pic)? Large and spacious, with a 90-person capacity, perfectly suiting any festive occasion, it’s a great spot to have a family party, drinks reception with friends, or large gathering of work colleagues.

And if you love nothing more than a good singsong with friends or work colleagues, the pub’s private karaoke room is available from £49 per hour. Or why not take advantage of the VIP package that’s £149 for 3 hours of karaoke plus two bottles of bubbles (worth £30 each) and belt out classics like Slade, Wizard and, of course, Mariah?

Finally, all the festive football you can watch will be shown on the Leyton Star’s big screen, so any Orient or West Ham fans can have a party and not miss the match, either. Win-win.
