Swirl E10 to open in Leyton Midland

Tilbury Road's latest arrival is a natural wine and small plates bar

And now, some exclusive Arch Deli news. This week, owner Michaela Zelenanska picked up the keys for her forthcoming bar, Swirl, an exciting joint project she is launching in the Leyton Midland railway arches with Pandemonium Wines.

“Pandemonium Wines were one of our first suppliers when I opened Arch Deli back in April 2022,” she says. “We consistently champion Central European wines thanks to guys like them, and we bonded through the fact that both founder Viliam and I are from Slovakia.”

The partnership truly blossomed, however, after they went on a wine trip “together with a few fellow wine enthusiasts”.

So, when the opportunity to acquire an arch in Tilbury Road popped up, “Viliam was the person I called with the offer to join me,” she says. “His wife Prianka (the other half of Pandemonium Wines) joined in shortly after.”

At the launch, we can expect natural and low-intervention winemakers from across Slovakia and the Czech Republic. “There’ll be small plates and guest chefs coming later,” she says. “I’m hoping for this to be a locals’ spot, as well as a destination, for natural wine lovers and foodies alike, with rotating chef residencies.”

Swirl is opening a couple of doors down from cosy tropical cocktail bar Leyton Calling, thereby providing a serious wine alternative to its focus on cocktails, and, further up, Libertalia’s emphasis on high quality craft beer.

Sounds like the perfect Tilbury Trinity. The plan is to open at the end of November, but watch this space.
