There’s a solid new addition to the dining out stretch on the upper reaches of Leytonstone High Road -bang opposite the shiny new M&S Foodhall.
Yep, following the departure of excellent Sri Lankan kitchen Kamu (reviewed here), The Birds has landed legendary burger slingers Patty & Bun to smash out their American-style burgers — for an indefinite length of time.
It’s amazing the brand have now been going 13 years, since opening their first restaurant in Marylebone; I remember how fashionable the Old Compton Street branch was back in the day.

So is this just a summer pop-up or here for keeps? “If the people of Leytonstone love it, who knows?” marketing bloke Joe told me. “We’re hoping for a good while.” @thebirdsleytonstone
