It has possibly the best pun-tastic name for a beans purveyor in east London – and now the renowned Walthamstow coffee merchants have landed right here at Leytonstone’s manically busy underground station.
Yup, from Monday just gone, Central Line addicts (sorry, commuters) have been able to sip a latte or (our favourite) a strong long black as they nab a seat in the purgatory of the rush-hour tube.
But what’s their USP? Perky Blenders – that’s Tom, Adam and Victoria – are small batch, speciality grade coffee roasters, who have carts and concessions across E17 (from St James St station to Mother’s Ruin on the industrial estate).
Their beans are predominantly (but not exclusively) sourced from farms in South America and Africa, and hand-picked for quality and provenance. “It’s an epic way to source, and we know it’s what gives our blends a truly cutting-edge taste,” says Tom.

What else? They sell bags for home use and even have a letterbox subscription service. “So you can either come and see us for a cup,” he says, “or create a bespoke roast and have it posted on a day that works for you.”
Handy. They’re also keen to “unite local enterprise” and promote the independent business economy – starting with a small selection of cakes, savoury brioche and sweet things courtesy of the lovely nearby Wild Goose Bakery.
So we reckon they’ll be conquering vast swathes of E11 (and, no doubt E10) sooner than you think. Blinding.
