Two foodie evenings are coming up from E11 oenophiles Burgess & Hall. First up, this Saturday 5th Dec, is a wine and food tasting menu at popular hang the Wild Goose Bakery. A glass of fizz will be followed by six wines, paired with six small plates (four savoury, two sweet) prepared by the chefs at the cafe (7.30pm, £35). Then on Wednesday 16th Dec, the pair present the Ultimate Winter Warmers at All Your Read is Love, (877 High Road) with a tasting of robust reds, warming ports, and wines “to curl up by the fire with” this Christmas. Tickets £25 (incl. eight wines and cheeses). Buy tickets for both evenings here.

FILM: Hitchcock’s Home does Christmas

Hitchcock's Home returns. But without the master of suspense it seems.
Hitchcock’s Home returns. But without the master of suspense it seems.
Remember the glorious summer Hitch bash? Y’know, with the alfresco movie classics at St John’s churchyard? Well the team are back for a festive special; and actually, we can’t think of a better way to spend the lazy Sunday before Christmas than snuggling down with the family (or your bezzies) with something seasonal to watch.

This one-day only cinematic adventure is being held at The Mission Hall on Alymer Road, E11 – and Leyton’s hottest new opening Deeney’s will be dishing up toasties, with Burgess & Hall (yup, them again) on hand with well-chosen red and white wines, mulled wine, craft beers and Hackney-made gin. Movies include – ahhhhh! – The Snowman, Father Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol and, at 730pm, our favourite Xmas movie of all time: Gremlins. But hang on a minute, wot no Hitchcock? Oops.
Adult tickets are from £12.40. Book now here.
